Since we never actually chopped food in it, we gave it the benefit of a doubt and gave it one extra star. Facing a cumbersome and defective machine, we will gladly return it for a smaller simpler machine. On our first attempt to use the machine, we spent 15 minutes just trying to put it together, which is distressing since we are both engineers. On a lark, we decided to plug in the device, only to find that the resulting noise during low-speed use is overpowering even in the furthest point in our apartment.
