Skil 5480-01 13 Amp 7-1/4-Inch Circular Saw Kit – Skil, 7-1/4″, 13A, Circular Saw, 2. 3HP Motor With Ball Bearing Construction, Includes: 18T Carbide Blade, Rear Lever Depth Adjustment For Quick Cut Depth Changes, Safety Lock Out Switch Minimizes Accidental Starts, 15% More Speed For Faster Cuts, Better Finish, 1/2 LB Less Weight... The blade it comes with makes a very clean cut, and the saw itself has more than enough power to cut through anything you might throw at it. I even used this saw to make beveled cuts in 2×4, without a problem. The price of a new blade was close to the price of this entire new saw, so i bought the saw intending to use it really only once, and didn’t expect much. The 5480-01 circular saw possesses many user-friendly features, including a patented Anti Snag lower guard, a professional-grade safety feature that reduces hangups in materials when making narrow cutoffs. SKIL Heritage i bought one of these saws to cut some plywood after discovering my dad’s craftsman had rusty and dull blade. The circular saw isn’t a tool I use very often for really heavy-duty applications anyway. After using it that one time, i found myself looking for new projects which involved using a circular saw. I can’t justify spending very much money on a circular saw. Since then, a group I work with has bought two more for use in an annual construction project, and these two saws get used for several hours a day, everyday, over the span of a month. With a sharp blade, this saw easily cuts through any nominally sized 2 inch lumber and plywood. If you need to do a lot of jobsite bevel cuts at 2 inches deep, this saw might not have enough power. For most applications with dry wood and non-beveled cuts, this saw has more than enough power. So if this new saw is constructed every bit as good as they were being built way back when I bought my first one, then this replacement should last me up until age 75. I’ve used this saw for many remodeling applications, and it has held up just fine. Both of these two saws have performed flawlessly over the last two years, and we’re very happy with the purchases. The miter saw and sawzall both get considerably more use. I can’t justify the money for a worm-drive saw, especially since they’re so much heavier. I prefer a table saw for those applications. The 5480-01 SKILSAW has a 13-amp motor that supplies the necessary strength for ripping through all varieties of wood, while the 7-1/4-inch 18-tooth carbide blade provides the cutting capacity necessary for tackling a variety of projects,... The 5480-01 7-1/4-Inch SKILSAW is lighter and more compact than previous models, while providing more power to get the job done quickly.
